                                                        Hockey Director Announcement

We are thrilled to announce newest Hockey Director of the Northbrook Bluehawks – Matt Rotman!

Matt Rotman joins our organization with almost 30 years of experience building hockey programs, mentoring coaches and developing players. As a neighboring resident and Deerfield native, Matt has spent the past few decades making a difference in our local hockey community. He is more than ready and excited to lead our Bluehawks organization!

We are immensely excited for Matt to hit the ground running. Having spent the past year as the Head Coach of the Bluehawks Squirt AA team, we have seen first-hand his passion for the game, his drive to push his players to grow as young people on and off the ice and the value he brings to our organization through his approach.

Matt has extensive coaching and skill development experience at all ages and skill levels, from pre-Mite through Adult League. He spent the early part of his coaching career in the late 1990s with the Falcon Hockey Association as a head coach and skill development professional. He also worked with the early development players in the Learn to Skate clinics and House League. During his time with the Falcons, Matt was also an Assistant Varsity coach for Lake Forest High School and Deerfield High School.

In the early 2000s, Matt joined the Northbrook Hockey League as the Assistant Director of Hockey for the Bluehawks. During his tenure, the Bluehawks organization grew from 200 skaters to nearly 400 skaters – skaters that included NHL star JT Compher (of the Detroit Red Wings – formerly Colorado Avalanche) and Jesse Compher of the PWHL’s Toronto Hockey Team.

During his time with the Bluehawks, Matt also led the Glenbrook North JV Hockey team as their Head Coach. He maintains a good relationship with Evan Poulakidas (GBN Varsity Head Coach), which is essential as we continue to work with GBN Hockey to foster a development program that prepares our skaters for the next level.

“I’m excited and honored to take on the role of the Hockey Director for the Northbrook Bluehawks. I believe my years of experience, passion for the game, and leadership skills will translate into providing our players and families with the best possible experience. My focus is to enhance each player’s skill development, grow their knowledge of the game, and provide overall life lessons that will help our players grow and mature on and off the ice,” says Matt Rotman.

We hope you will join us in congratulating Matt on becoming the Hockey Director for the Northbrook Bluehawks. We are eager for him to get started and see what he will bring to our program!

Information will be coming soon on an official meet and greet. Matt will also be at the Northbrook Days NBHL booth on the following dates and times:

July 31st: 6pm - 8:30pm

Aug 2nd: 6pm - 8:30pm

Aug 4th: 12pm - 3pm

Congratulations, Matt!
